Guides

Choose the guide that matches the job you need to do. Each guide gives you the required setup, the procedure, and a way to check the result. For design and trade-offs, read Concepts. For fields, flags, and API details, use Reference.

Start here

If you are getting data in and out for the first time, take them in this order: OpenTelemetry to send logs and traces, then Querying with SQL to read them back, then Grafana and Jaeger to put them on a dashboard. For a first install and a working query on one machine, start with the Quickstart instead.

Pick a guide by task

  • Querying with SQL

Search, aggregate, filter by time, and work with attributes. Check whether a query used a fast path.

  • User indexes

Declare typed document mappings, tokenizers, tag fields, and per-index retention. The target of the Elasticsearch bulk API.

  • OpenTelemetry

Collector configuration, SDK setup, and getting the attribute mapping right.

  • Grafana and Jaeger

Wire Siglake into Grafana for dashboards, and use the Jaeger shim for traces.

  • External query engines

Query the warehouse directly from Trino or another tested Iceberg reader. Check the limits of each tested combination.

  • Retention and deletes

Retention policies, GDPR predicate deletes, orphan GC, and audit rotation.

  • Consuming WAL segments

Build an at-least-once external pipeline over sealed WAL segments, with a durable cursor and retention coordination.
